Samsung has recently announced the launch of “Galaxy AI”, a new feature that aims to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its Galaxy smartphones. This new service, planned for early next year, aims to provide a range of useful and practical features for users. One particularly notable feature is “AI Live Translate Call”. This is basically a personal translator that is integrated directly into the smartphone and enables real-time translations not only for text messages, but also for phone calls.
In an official statement, Samsung states that Galaxy AI is “a comprehensive mobile AI experience based on a combination of on-device AI developed by Samsung and cloud-based AI”. This combination has been developed thanks to Samsung’s open collaboration with other industry leaders. Furthermore, the company emphasizes that Galaxy AI will have a positive impact on users’ daily mobile experience while providing the security and privacy that Samsung is known for.
One of the notable features of Samungs’s AI is that real-time translations are integrated directly into Samsung’s phone app. This eliminates the need to download third-party apps for this service. Samsung promises that “real-time audio and text translations are displayed during a call”. Another special feature is that the translations are performed directly on the device and not via a cloud connection, which provides an additional layer of security in terms of data protection and privacy. Samsung emphasizes that “private conversations never leave your phone”.
The market launch of Galaxy AI, including real-time translations, is planned for early 2024. This is also expected to coincide with the release of the next generation of Galaxy phones. However, the future of the feature in other devices is still uncertain. It remains unclear whether the feature will be available exclusively for the expected Galaxy S24 series or also for older models. The implementation of Galaxy AI technology could therefore be an exciting development in Samsung’s future strategy.
