Samsung Galaxy S25 Series: Expected Features and Launch Details

Samsung’s next Galaxy S25 series is expected to be unveiled in January 2025. For months, rumors and leaks have been circulating, providing a clear picture of what the South Korean manufacturer might present.

Focus on the Ultra Model

Samsung is likely to release three or even four different models of the Galaxy S25. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to have a different design compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. CAD render images suggest that the S25 and S25 Plus will look very similar to their predecessors.

The rumored fourth model, the Galaxy S25 Slim, is expected to be introduced later. It is anticipated to be a particularly thin smartphone, potentially competing with Apple’s rumored iPhone 17 Slim.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra will reportedly move away from the angular design of previous models to accommodate the stylus more elegantly. The new Ultra model is expected to be slightly rounder than the S24 Ultra.

According to reliable sources, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will measure 162.8 × 77.6 × 8.2 mm, making it slightly longer, narrower, and thinner than the S24 Ultra. These dimensions suggest a change in the aspect ratio.

Display and Size

The Ultra model will maintain a 6.8-inch display but with narrower bezels. The weight is expected to be reduced to 219 grams, 13 grams less than the S24 Ultra.

The Galaxy S25 will have a 6.2-inch screen, while the S25 Plus will feature a 6.7-inch display. Both models are expected to have a flat aluminum frame with a slightly rounded back.

Battery and Charging

The S25 Ultra will retain a 5,000 mAh battery, similar to the S24 Ultra. Other manufacturers have increased battery sizes in their top models, but Samsung seems to be sticking to conservative sizes with 4,000 mAh for the S25 and 4,900 mAh for the S25 Plus.

The charging speed will remain at a maximum of 45 watts, with the base model possibly supporting only 25 watts. The devices will feature Qi2 wireless charging technology, similar to Apple’s MagSafe.

Camera Features

The cameras of the Galaxy S25 Ultra are not expected to see major updates. The 200-megapixel wide-angle camera will use the Isocell HP2 sensor, as in the predecessor. The zoom cameras will remain unchanged, featuring a 10-megapixel triple zoom and a 50-megapixel periscope camera with five times optical magnification.

The ultra-wide camera is expected to receive an upgrade with a 50-megapixel Isocell JN3 sensor. The Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus will keep the same triple-camera setup as their predecessors.

Processor and Software

All S25 models will likely use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, introduced in October 2024. The chip will be accompanied by 12 or 16 GB of RAM, essential for running apps and AI tasks. The S25 and S25 Plus will start with 128 GB of storage, while the Ultra model will start at 256 GB.

The Galaxy S25 series will feature Android 15 with One UI 7. Samsung is expected to introduce new AI features with this update, including improvements through its Gauss 2 AI model, enhancing functionalities like “Browsing Assist” and “Call Assist.”

Pricing and Availability

Leaked information suggests that the Galaxy S25 will start at 899 euros for the 128 GB model, and the S25 Plus will start at 1,149 euros for the 256 GB version. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to start at 1,449 euros for the 256 GB model.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra will reportedly be available in colors like “Titanium Black,” “Titanium Blue,” “Titanium Gray,” and “Titanium Silver.”

Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy S25 series in January, with the Galaxy Unpacked event rumored to take place on January 22. The official market launch is typically two weeks after the event.
