Google Cloud Enhances AI Capabilities with NotebookLM Plus and Agentspace Tools

Google Cloud is expanding its AI notebook capabilities with a new version called NotebookLM Plus. This enhanced version is designed for power users and will be part of Google Workspace and Google Workspace for Education. While the free version of NotebookLM is already quite powerful, the Plus variant offers additional features and capabilities.

NotebookLM Plus allows users to create five times more audio overviews, which are high-quality summary podcasts. It also increases the number of notebooks, queries, and sources per notebook by five times. Users can customize the style and length of responses and create shared notebooks with analytics for their team. There are also improvements in privacy and security, although specific details are not yet available. Google does not use data uploaded to NotebookLM for training its models.

The free version currently allows the creation of 100 notebooks with up to 50 sources, each containing 500,000 words. Users can make up to 50 chat queries and generate three audio overviews per day. With NotebookLM Plus, users can create 500 notebooks with 300 sources each, 500 chat queries, and 20 audio overviews daily. This Plus offering is part of the Gemini add-on for Workspace and Workspace for Education customers, costing $20 per user per month. It’s available within Gemini Enterprise, Business, Education, and Education Premium.

Google has also introduced a new tool for businesses called Agentspace, which provides access to AI agents and AI-powered searches. Agentspace is a multimodal search agent that serves as a centralized information source for the entire company via Google Cloud. It aims to make it easier for various departments to access existing company information. Analysts can identify new industry trends, developers can find code errors faster, and marketing experts can generate detailed performance analyses using Agentspace.

In the future, a visual low-code tool will be added to create custom expert agents, accessible to non-developers. The search function is designed to maintain “Google-quality” and keep data within the company. Connectors for external tools like Salesforce, Microsoft 365, and Box will also be available. Google showcases use cases in several videos, with early adopters including Nokia and Deloitte Consulting. Agentspace is combined with NotebookLM Plus for Enterprise, accessible via Google Cloud.

Recently, Google expanded its AI offerings within Workspace in November. The Google Cloud office suite, including Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Gmail, gained access to Google’s Gemini through a sidebar, now available in multiple languages such as German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, and Korean, besides English.

The video generator Vids, mainly used for creating explanatory, presentation, and marketing videos, is now widely available. Customers with subscriptions like Workspace Business, Enterprise, Education, and Gemini as an add-on can create short films using royalty-free stock images or directly access Google Drive and Google Photos. These videos include “professionally sounding AI voiceover voices,” according to Google. Gemini suggests suitable scripts to users and helps them appear more professional on camera. Vids includes its own “Video Studio” in the browser.
