Boosting AI Acceptance in the Workplace Through Knowledge and Training

According to a study by the software company SAP, those who are more familiar with artificial intelligence (AI) find it more useful in their daily work. When a company uses AI in recruitment or hiring processes, potential employees respond more positively and are more likely to accept a job offer compared to traditional methods. Additionally, researchers offer tips on how leaders can promote AI usage within their organizations.

People with limited knowledge of AI are six times more likely to be skeptical and seven times more likely to be fearful of using AI at work compared to those with extensive knowledge. Among those familiar with AI, 70% believe in its positive impact at work, whereas only 29% of those with limited knowledge share this belief. From the latter group, 44% suggested that employees using AI should be paid less than those who do not. More than half of the respondents felt that performance evaluations should favor employees who utilize AI.

Regardless of their familiarity with AI, its use is a significant factor in the job application process. Between 45% and 57% of respondents stated they are more likely to apply for a job or accept an offer if the company uses AI in recruitment. They perceive the hiring process as more balanced and believe the job is a better fit for them. Among those with better AI knowledge, this percentage rises to between 66% and 75%.

Higher acceptance of AI can be achieved through training. SAP researchers surveyed over 4,000 leaders and employees worldwide. Based on this data, they developed recommendations for improving AI acceptance among employees. A significant portion of these recommendations focuses on increasing AI knowledge. Companies should provide AI training, encourage employees to learn from each other, and foster curiosity. Alongside practical AI tool usage, researchers also recommend open communication to highlight goals and past successes.
