With Trickle, a simple prompt is enough to create a website. Not long ago, if you wanted a website or an online game, you had two choices: build it yourself or hire someone. The rise of generative AI has changed this. Now, several tools allow you to create complex web offerings with just a brief description of the desired site. Trickle is an example of such an online tool. A simple prompt is all it takes for the AI to create a chat assistant, an online survey, or even a web game.
When we tried Trickle, we asked it to create a shooter game to help players improve their typing speed. After a short wait, we could play a web game where words fell from top to bottom. If the words were typed correctly, they disappeared. If a word reached the bottom of the screen, the game ended. The result wasn’t particularly attractive, and there might be debate about whether it was truly a shooter game, but Trickle did accomplish the task. However, not all attempts were successful on the first try.
For more complex requirements, the first result might have noticeable weaknesses. You can refine the outcome with additional prompts. This might involve some back-and-forth, but it’s still faster than learning JavaScript. Trickle can create nearly any web app you can think of. If you need a web app to collect data through a form, Trickle will also set up and manage a database for you.
Once you’re satisfied with your website, a simple click on Deploy puts it online. Creating a website couldn’t be easier. Trickle can be used for free, but you are limited to five prompts per day and a maximum of 30 per month. For $20 a month, the limit increases to 120 prompts. If that’s not enough, you can buy packages of 50 additional prompts for $10 each.
Alternatively, you can explore similar tools. One interesting alternative is Lovable, formerly known as GPT Engineer. Lovable allows you to export and further edit the created code directly on GitHub.
Generative AI tools like Trickle and Lovable are making it easier for anyone to create websites and web applications without extensive coding knowledge. These tools democratize web development, allowing more people to bring their ideas to life with minimal technical barriers.
Generative AI has opened up new possibilities for creativity and innovation in web development. As these tools continue to evolve, they will likely become even more powerful and accessible, enabling even more people to participate in the digital economy.
The cost of entry into web development is decreasing, and the potential for innovation is increasing. With tools like Trickle and Lovable, the future of web development looks bright and full of possibilities.
