Ray-Ban Meta Glasses
Meta’s smart AR glasses, developed in collaboration with Ray-Ban, have been available for over a year and are popular even without AI. In 60% of Ray-Ban stores across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, they are reportedly the best-selling glasses. The glasses can take videos and photos and have built-in speakers, microphones, and a touchpad. Users can listen to music or answer calls. Now, certain AI features are available in some EU countries, though European data protection rules limit others.
India and WhatsApp Restrictions
Four years ago, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, updated its terms and privacy policies, requiring users to accept expanded data-sharing terms with other Meta companies. The Indian competition authority investigated how WhatsApp collects and shares user data, resulting in restrictions on data sharing and a fine for antitrust violations.
Damaged Data Cable
A data cable between Germany and Finland is damaged, with the cause currently under investigation. This cable, known as C-Lion1, has its endpoints in Helsinki and Rostock. Since the incident, no data has been transmitted through this cable, which was completed eight years ago.
