Microsoft is planning to integrate its video editing and composing software, Clipchamp, into Microsoft 365 Copilot. This integration aims to allow users to create video content and scripts automatically using prompts for artificial intelligence.

According to the updated Microsoft 365 roadmap for Clipchamp, Microsoft announced in December that the “Clipchamp Copilot Video Creator” would be available as a preview starting January, with general availability expected in February.

The feature is described by Microsoft as follows: “Create a video on any topic with a prompt. Clipchamp generates a video using stock video and music, along with an AI-generated voiceover track on the chosen topic.” The updated roadmap entry elaborates: “Clipchamp brings video creation features to the Visual Creator of Copilot. Enter a prompt, and Clipchamp crafts a tailored script, sources high-quality stock video material, and assembles a video project with spoken audio, music, text overlays, and transitions.” The draft of the video project can be opened, further edited, exported, and shared in Clipchamp.

Microsoft envisions this tool being used for informational videos, video messages, how-to guides, demonstrations, and video presentations. The Clipchamp Copilot Video Creator is set to be available globally across all cloud instances, making it particularly useful for business customers.

In mid-December, Microsoft published a blog post explaining how AI prompts can be used to quickly create video scripts and voiceover texts. Clipchamp already includes several AI features, with another blog post detailing how end users can utilize them.

Clipchamp received its first useful AI features around the beginning of the previous year. Microsoft’s developers added a function to automatically detect and remove long periods of silence in video clips. A few weeks earlier, they had introduced a feature for automated subtitle creation.

The Clipchamp integration into Microsoft 365 Copilot represents a significant step in enhancing video creation processes, making it easier and faster for users to produce professional-quality videos. The AI-driven capabilities aim to streamline the video production workflow, allowing users to focus on creativity and content rather than technical details.

Clipchamp’s integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot is expected to revolutionize how businesses and individuals approach video content creation. By leveraging AI technology, users can produce engaging and informative videos without requiring extensive video editing skills.

Overall, the Clipchamp Copilot Video Creator is poised to become an essential tool for anyone looking to create high-quality video content efficiently. Its global availability ensures that users worldwide can benefit from its innovative features, making video creation more accessible and convenient than ever before.
