Microsoft has introduced a new feature called Think Deeper for its AI assistant, Copilot. This feature, based on OpenAI’s o1 model, was initially available only to subscribers of Copilot Pro. Alternatively, users could access the o1 model directly through OpenAI’s paid service, ChatGPT Plus. However, according to The Verge, the Copilot integration will be rolled out for free to all users this week.

To use Think Deeper, users simply need to click on the appropriately labeled button in Copilot and wait about 30 seconds for a response. The feature is designed for complex questions, aiming to analyze them from various perspectives and in greater depth.

Think Deeper is intended to provide detailed explanations for more complicated questions. The answers are presented in structured steps, making them easier to understand and allowing for better comparison of different options.

Potential applications include creating program code for apps or planning long travel routes. Before becoming free, Think Deeper was introduced as a paid feature in Copilot Pro in October 2024.

Microsoft’s AI CEO, Mustafa Suleyman, expressed excitement about this development in a LinkedIn post, stating that he and his team have many more innovations in the pipeline that he is eager to share.

This announcement coincides with increased attention on artificial intelligence, particularly from the Chinese startup Deepseek. Microsoft, in partnership with OpenAI, is investigating the possibility that Deepseek’s success might be partly due to stolen data from US competitors.

According to Bloomberg, Microsoft security experts noticed a significant data leak through an OpenAI software interface in the fall of 2024. The Chinese startup is suspected of being responsible for this economic espionage.

Meanwhile, OpenAI’s video AI, Sora, has been making waves, showcasing some of the best clips created by this technology.
