OpenAI Launches Sora AI for Global Video Creation

OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, has announced the launch of the Sora AI. This tool is available globally at Sora.com. Subscribers with a paid account can use it without additional payments. Plus subscribers get 50 videos per month, while ChatGPT Pro users have unlimited access for $200 monthly.

Sora.com is the main hub for video creation. The team explains that it’s an early version that might have some errors. Initially, there will be stricter moderation to prevent illegal content creation. OpenAI aims to balance artistic freedom with legal requirements.

On Sora.com, there will be a section called Explore. Users can find inspiration here, with videos listed for detailed exploration. The commands used to create these videos are openly visible.

Users can utilize text descriptions, existing images, and videos. Videos can be generated in various formats and resolutions and stored in folders. There is also the option to work with predefined themes.

The new storyboard feature is particularly interesting. It allows for the creation of complex videos by adding instructions at any point in the timeline. Previously, demos seemed static, but this feature changes that.

Within the storyboard, different video generation methods can be combined. For example, a background image can be selected, and the main action defined through text description.

If the video isn’t perfect, the remix function lets users swap, add, or change components or the entire setting. The recap function allows users to shorten, extend, or both. Additional instructions can be added to make the video more complex.

The loop function enables endless loops, useful for creating background videos for websites or desktops. The blend function allows merging multiple videos.

Although Sora is being introduced worldwide, it will not be available in most of Europe initially. This is likely due to data protection issues. Access from Germany is currently blocked.
