The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is expected to be unveiled in January 2025. Rumors and leaks have been circulating for months, providing a clear picture of what the South Korean manufacturer might present. The focus seems to be on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which will have a design different from its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. CAD renderings suggest that the S25 and S25 Plus will look similar to their predecessors.
There is speculation about a fourth model, the Galaxy S25 Slim, which is rumored to be introduced later. This model is expected to be a thin smartphone, possibly competing with Apple’s rumored iPhone 17 Slim.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra will move away from the angular design of previous models to accommodate the stylus more elegantly. The new Ultra model will be slightly rounder compared to the S24 Ultra. The dimensions are expected to be 162.8 x 77.6 x 8.2 mm, making it slightly longer, narrower, and thinner than the S24 Ultra.
Despite the smaller dimensions, the Ultra’s screen will remain at 6.8 inches diagonally but will have narrower bezels. The weight is expected to be reduced to 219 grams, 13 grams lighter than the S24 Ultra. Improvements in the anti-reflective coating are anticipated, enhancing the already excellent display quality.
The Galaxy S25 will have a 6.2-inch screen, while the S25 Plus will feature a 6.7-inch display. Both models will have a flat aluminum frame with slightly rounded edges. The battery capacities will remain unchanged, with the S25 Ultra having a 5,000 mAh battery, the S25 a 4,000 mAh battery, and the S25 Plus a 4,900 mAh battery. Charging speeds are expected to remain at a maximum of 45 watts, with the base model possibly supporting only 25 watts. The devices will likely support Qi2 charging technology with magnetic attachment, similar to Apple’s MagSafe.
In terms of cameras, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will not see major changes. It will retain the 200-megapixel wide-angle camera with an Isocell HP2 sensor. The zoom cameras will also remain the same, with a 10-megapixel triple zoom and a 50-megapixel periscope camera with five times optical magnification. However, the ultra-wide-angle camera will be upgraded to a 50-megapixel sensor. The Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus will have similar camera setups as their predecessors, with a 50-megapixel wide-angle, a 10-megapixel telephoto with triple optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera.
Samsung will likely use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor in all S25 models, with a special “For Galaxy” variant. The chip will be accompanied by 12 or 16 GB of RAM. Storage for the S25 and S25 Plus will start at 128 GB, while the Ultra model will start at 256 GB.
The software is expected to be Android 15 with One UI 7. Samsung is working on updates for AI features, including a new multimodal AI model called Gauss 2. Google’s Gemini chatbot might also be included, with a free trial period of up to one year for the S25 Ultra.
Pricing for the Galaxy S25 series is expected to start at 899 euros for the S25 with 128 GB of storage, 1,149 euros for the S25 Plus with 256 GB, and 1,449 euros for the S25 Ultra with 256 GB. The Ultra will be available in colors like “Titanium Black,” “Titanium Blue,” “Titanium Gray,” and “Titanium Silver.”
The Galaxy S25 series is likely to be unveiled at a Galaxy Unpacked event on January 22, with the official market launch two weeks later.
