Samsung Galaxy S25 : Samsung Galaxy S25 Series: Upcoming Features, Specs, and Launch Details

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is on the horizon, with rumors and leaks painting a picture of what to expect. Samsung is likely to unveil three or four models, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra being the most distinct from its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. CAD render images suggest that the S25 and S25 Plus will closely resemble their predecessors. A potential fourth model, rumored as the Galaxy S25 Slim, may debut later, competing with Apple’s rumored iPhone 17 Slim.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra will move away from the angular design reminiscent of the Galaxy Note, opting for a slightly rounder appearance while retaining the stylus. The device dimensions are expected to be 162.8 x 77.6 x 8.2 mm, slightly longer but narrower and thinner than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The display will measure 6.9 inches diagonally, up from 6.8 inches, with narrower bezels and a weight reduction to 218 grams from 232 grams.

The Ultra’s screen will feature improved anti-reflective coating, as reported by reliable leaker Ice Universe. The Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus will maintain their screen sizes of 6.2 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively, with minimal changes to the flat aluminum frame design.

Battery capacity remains unchanged for the S25 Ultra at 5,000 mAh, while the S25 and S25 Plus have 4,000 mAh and 4,900 mAh batteries. Charging speeds will stay at a maximum of 45 watts, with the base model potentially only supporting 25 watts. The devices will support Qi2 charging technology, similar to Apple’s MagSafe, requiring a special case for magnetic attachment.

Camera upgrades for the Galaxy S25 Ultra are minimal. The 200-megapixel wide-angle camera will use the same sensor as the S24 Ultra. The zoom cameras will remain unchanged, featuring a 10-megapixel triple zoom and a 50-megapixel periscope camera with five times optical zoom. The ultra-wide camera will see an upgrade to Samsung’s 50-megapixel Isocell JN3 sensor, enhancing resolution and image quality. The S25 and S25 Plus cameras will remain similar to their predecessors, with potential image quality improvements from new processors and software optimizations.

The S25 Ultra is expected to offer improved video quality and a macro camera upgrade using AI enhancements. Samsung will likely use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for all S25 models, with a “For Galaxy” variant for higher performance. The devices will include 12 or 16 GB of RAM, necessary for running apps and AI tasks. Storage options for the S25 and S25 Plus will start at 128 GB, while the Ultra model will begin at 256 GB.

Additional features include water and dust resistance (IP68), Wi-Fi 7, and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. An ultra-wideband chip for digital car keys will likely be exclusive to the Ultra and Plus models.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series will run on Android 15 with Samsung One UI 7.1. The update is currently in beta for the Galaxy S24 series and will roll out in early 2025. Samsung is working on AI feature updates, with the new Gauss 2 AI model expected to enhance Galaxy AI functions.

Google’s Gemini chatbot may be included, potentially free for one year on the S25 Ultra. The S25 and S25 Plus might have a shorter free period. The series will also feature crash detection, similar to the Pixel and iPhone models.

Pricing information suggests the Galaxy S25 will start at 899 euros for the 128 GB model, the S25 Plus at 1,149 euros for 256 GB, and the S25 Ultra at 1,449 euros for 256 GB. The Galaxy S25 Ultra will be available in colors like Titanium Black, Titanium Blue, Titanium Gray, and Titanium Silver.

The Galaxy S25 series is expected to be unveiled in January, with an Unpacked event scheduled for January 22. Samsung promises to showcase new AI features that offer seamless support in daily life. The event will be streamed live on Samsung’s website, Newsroom, and YouTube channel.
