Solos has introduced “AirGo Vision” smartglasses, designed to assist users with the help of artificial intelligence, specifically using GPT-4o from OpenAI. These smartglasses can identify objects, translate languages and texts, and help find directions. In addition to ChatGPT, other AI models like Google Gemini and Claude by Anthropic are also supported. The AI smartglasses come in various colors and styles, including a frame without cameras for increased privacy, limiting the user to audio support only.
The AirGo Vision is poised to be a strong competitor to Meta’s Ray-Ban Glasses, which are popular even without AI features. In October, the owner of Ray-Ban announced that the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses were the best-selling glasses in 60% of Ray-Ban stores across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Previously, AI was not a selling point, but Meta recently made certain AI features available for the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses in Europe.
Solos’ new AI smartglasses can be used without a camera, a feature that aligns with stricter EU privacy regulations. The frame of the AirGo Vision can be easily swapped if the user chooses to forgo the cameras. The battery and touch sensors are housed in the arms of the glasses and connect to the front and lenses via USB-C. Different lens prescriptions are available for order.
Solos co-founder Kenneth Fan stated, “We promised consumers control over their experiences with AI and smart technology, especially regarding privacy options. That’s why we developed frames that can be easily exchanged, allowing users to decide when and where a camera might be used, without sacrificing fun features.”
The AirGo Vision smartglasses weigh only 42 grams, according to the manufacturer, and allow for over 2500 AI interactions before needing a recharge. Solos claims a battery life of up to 10 hours for activities like streaming music, though this decreases to 7 hours for continuous phone calls. The need to reach for a smartphone is reduced by an always-on mode. Once the Solos app is opened, it runs continuously in the background, maintaining the connection to the smartglasses for hands-free calling and AI functionalities.
Solos offers the AirGo Vision in two frame designs: the larger Krypton 1 and the slimmer Krypton 2, available in three or four color options, each priced at 290 Euros. A camera-free frame option is available for an additional 102 Euros.
These smartglasses provide a modern solution for those seeking to integrate AI into their daily lives, offering both convenience and privacy options tailored to personal preferences. With the ability to swap frames and choose camera-free designs, users have more control over their privacy while still enjoying the benefits of AI technology. The AirGo Vision smartglasses are a step forward in wearable technology, combining style, functionality, and privacy.
